I love metal work!
Grinding and sanding to strip paint is a whole lot faster than media blasting, and if you ever sandblasted before, it's nasty work which you want to do as little as possible of. Using plastic media will prevent warping of sheet metal if you blast, but since you can lose alot of the media(it flies everywhere), it can be costly as well. A bag of play sand is $4 for 50 pounds.
Explain your definition of rockers?
The factory dipped process can be replicated if you use self-etching primers, but most do not like the use of body fillers in the same area. I avoid any confliction by using epoxy primers in its place. Epoxy is very durable and can serve the same purpose of tightly sealing any metal. POR15 is also useful for sealing, and I used quite a bit of it on the 78T resto.
