I'm losing faith that I'll ever revive the 1980 900 T I have in the driveway.
I have spark- I pulled the #1 plug and saw it fire. I also stuck a timing light on the other wires and the light flashed.
I have fuel. I have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up, the plugs are wet.
It doesn't fire, not even once. I removed the plugs and sprayed starter fluid in there. When I tried to start it not so much as a single pop or backfire. Nothing.
This must be an ignition timing thing. I removed the valve cover and lined up the notch on the sprocket, TDC and the rotor pointing at #1. Still nothing. It just cranks and cranks without even trying to fire up.
I have the breakerless ignition system, pre-hall sensor. It has an inductive transmitter.
I just replaced the inductive transmitter in the distributor. Is anyone familiar with this kind of ignition system? How hard is it to replace the ignition system with a more modern one?
