Both of Erik Carlsson's winning cars in the 62 and 63 Monte Carlo Rally were actually based on regular 96:es with tuned mixer engines. While the 63 car (#283) had been upgraded with 4 bolt hubs and disc brakes from a GT850, it still had the standard dashboard and door panels. For the 64 and 65 Monte Carlo Rally however, Erik did drive a Saab Sport, as the GT/MC editions were called in Europe.
