very common place for a 96 to rot. take the supports off, weld in a new chunk of metal --- check along the seam to the floor -- and then weld the supports back on. Make sure you measure where they go before you remove them. after your repair is finished make sure and spray rustpoofing wax inside the rocker panel. Years ago I had a very rusty winter beater 96 that needed a lot of support lumber to get it up on a lift. One day I could not get the seatbelt tight and discovered that the floor area where it bolted to was rotted away!
