Many auto-parts stores will test the battery for you if you lug it in. That would be an easy way to eliminate that possibility. If you're ambitious, remove the alternator and lug that in, too. That way you can find out whether the alternator is charging, as well as whether the battery is able to hold a charge.
Next, don't overlook dumb stuff like the terminals and cables. They may look fine, but still be on the way out. If one of these is going bad, it does two things: it keeps the battery from getting fully charged, and then what charge it does have can't reach the starter when you want to start the car. The symptom you've got is pretty typical: there's enough juice to click the solenoid, but not enough to spin the starter motor and make the car start. A totally fresh battery may have enough oomph to overcome the extra resistance and make the car start for a while, but soon the problem will be back.
If the alternator is charging, the battery is holding charge, the cables and terminals are spiffy and the ignition switch and wiring aren't toasted (gotcha!) then you've got to consider the possibility that the starter is due for a rebuild. The good thing about checking the other stuff first is that it's all a LOT easier to reach than a V4 starter motor!! Rule out the easy-to-reach problems before you go on to the hard-to-reach problems, that's always my motto...
