SAAB sold a kit that fit behind the grilles of 95's and 96's that was made out of a gray plastic covered foam i believe. it clipped in behind the grille for cold weather to restrict airflow into the radiator, but it came in three peices. One for either side, and one right over the radiator. So in theory, you could place the two side blocks and leave the middle open.
Auxillary heat exchangers also are an idea. I've heard of people that have bought junkyard heater elements hooked them up to the plumbing at the rear of the head, hung them behind the engine, and directed air to them with ducting. This could conciveably drop temps as much as 10-15 degrees. This would be far more comfortable than the alternative: Using the current heater element as a radiator by turning the heat on in the vehicle and allowing air to flow through it, and onto you. STEAMY
