Like the others, I agree that rust is the big culprit. Put it up on a hoist
so you can see all the underside, where the rust usually forms. Just got a 1970 96 up and running that you could drive home for $600. Only two rust spots, a corner of the pass. door and the pass. front jacking point. The engine is just getting broken in and runs fine. New rings, mains and rod brgs. O/hauled the clutch master and slave cylinder.Good rubber with a new
spare. The down side is the body badly needs a paint job, the interior needs a lot of tender care. Gauges work but the dash is cracked above. Transmission is fine, even the freewheeling works which I am using to save the clutch (50%) and gas. Right now it runs up to 70 mph, and each time i
drive it it seems to get a little faster. Call me after 6pm CST, 785 743 2475. I'm 300 miles west of Kansas City on I-70.
