Gordon: I just reread your orig. msg., and you say it SHOOTS up to the red zone! That sounds like it may have a stuck thermostat, or more likely, one or both of the head gaskets are installed upside down. The head gaskets can
be put in, in such a way that they block the flow of water in the water passages. If it stays in the red, I would check that after fooling with the
distributor.
