Hey, I'd be happy to help with PC issues.
Ok, here come a few quick ones. First, I do have some rust underneath the battery box. Does anyone have a picture of what the passenger wheelwell should look like when viewed from the outside with the tire removed? I believe I'm missing a large section right below where the brake line passes through. The pan under the engine seems fine though, shock towers seem to be fine.
This car has a bit of a hood issue where the front edge of the hood has hit the bumper guard on the front passenger side. For now I'm putting a rag on the bumper before I open the hood to prevent more paint chipping. Is there an adjustment that can be made, or do I just have some worn or damamged parts? The hood latches perfectly otherwise, rollers are in good shape.
Last question for now until my manuals arrive, but does anyone know what the proper throw distance should be for the clutch slave cylinder? I'm having trouble getting the car in and out of gear, and if it's in first, it's still enganged with the clutch fully depressed. I peeled back the rubber dust cover, and the cylinder is actuating the clutch fork, I imagine just not enough. There are no indications of leaks, so I'm guessing it's air in the system or internal leakage in the master or slave.
Thanks guys, I've been catching up on a lot of reading through previous posts and have tones of useful information already. I wanted this car for as long as I knew my Saab fanatic friend (he's owned almost a dozen different saabs) and always told him I'd be first in line to buy it. Luckily for me, he's got a 900 he's working on, so I was able to give him some project $ and a dry home for this little 96.
