As far as I know no V4s were made with hardened valve seats to prevent seat recession with unleaded fuel. Unless this is done it may crop up as a problem in time. Whether it does or does not become a problem seems to be somewhat idiosyncratic and probably depends on many things like engine design, driving style, the particular gasoline formulation in your area.....Perhaps someone with experience of more numerous V4 engines than I have, can comment on the prevalence of the problem.
Carefully following the instructions in the Haynes manual or (best of course) factory manual, and a question here or to your machinist for guidance when you need it, should get you through the project.
An electric fuel pump is favored by many including myself. It eliminates an admittedly minor parasitic drag, and replacements are easily obtained. V4 fuel pumps harder to come by. Larger improvments by drag elimination are available by conversion to electric fan and electric water pump.
