Ethanol and Vsaabs? Posted by patquin [Email] (#9) [Profile/Gallery] (more from patquin) on Mon, 14 May 2007 19:01:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Of course my car knows it's time to get ready to go to Carlisle, so it's giving me a little trouble. This week I just had an aftermarket electric fuel pump fail even though it was just a couple years and 1000 miles old. I'm suspecting that the ethanol in modern gasolines may have deteriorated some organic parts. I got to thinking--what about all those 60's era organic parts in the fuel tank, hoses, pumps and carburetors (gaskets) in our VSAABs? Could the new 10% ethanol mandate (to replace MTBE) lead to failure of these fuel system parts? I called the fuel pump supplier and didn't get a definitive answer. Anyone having similar problems? Am I just being paranoid?
