I wish I had a 2 car garage. This turns out to be a pretty nice car but it does have some needs.
#1. 3 of the 4 corners of the car have holes in the floor. Small holes, no big deal to fix.
#2. Surface rust, not tons but enough that since I really don't have any place to work (put a car in my 1 car garage? Dream on. Where would my motorcycles/lawnmower/snowmobile go?) I don't think I can tackle that, especially not in wintertime.
If I bought the car I'd fiberglass the floors since I don't trust my welding, do a bit of surface rust cleanup and spraybomb it. In 4 years (at most) the car would be scrap which is really too bad, it deserves better.
The Good: It started right up from cold, its about 35F out so thats probably a pretty good indicator of the engine.
The engine bay is very clean Rick has obviously done alot of work in there.
The tires are like brand new.
It'll drive in 3rd from a dead stop. My column shift skills are lousy and while I was on my test drive I could only find 3rd and 4th. Back in the yard I spent some time actually thinking about it and found 1st and 2nd no problem. I probably should have gone for another ride at that point...
Car rides and tracks just fine. Handles the snowy road better than my Mercedes-Benz 190D.
Other than the holes mentioned above the floor is very solid and looks great.
Heater works fine.
Good parking brake.
Badass Sparkomatic late '80s stereo!
Rick is a terrific guy and took a fairly large amount of time with me. He let me take the car for a quick spin all alone and was gracious when I said I didn't think I was ready to take on this project. If you're looking for a 95 and have some time and space to give it TLC this could be a really nice car.
