When the engine is cold, the oil pressure is much above the 10 psi per 1000 rpm ratio. For example, at 1000 rpm the pressure is 30 psi, and at 3000 rpm the pressure is about 40 psi.
After 20 minutes of running the pressure goes down to about 10 psi per 1000 rpm. But that ratio changes as the rpm increases. For example, at 1000 rpm the pressure is about 15 psi. At 3000 rpm the pressure is right at 30 psi.
It never goes below the 10psi/1000rpm ratio, but it used to be much higher than it is now so something has changed. I replaced the oil pressure gauge since that was only $15, and so the gauge is ruled out. What should be the next thing I test or replace? Should I replace the plug that the copper tubing is connected to at the engine block? Should I replace the copper tubing altogether?
Thanks for the help!
