If you are lucky, it is "just" the cable [or speedo]. Worst-case scenario is that the gearing has gone bad down inside the tranny -- which will require that to be pulled to fix. Possible way to isolate would be to undo the speedo cable at the tranny housing and then manually "spin" it -- does speedo then work? If so -- it's easier to find a replacement [possibly used] cable to isolate further -- gearing on cable vs. gearing inside speedo. If in fact it's the speedo, there are several places that will repair. Usually run ~$75 +s/h if I recall.
