V4 "Refresh"?? Posted by BAAB [Email] (#1214) [Profile/Gallery] (more from BAAB) on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 22:24:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My '72 96 has a great running V4 engine(1700 from a Sonett) but the oil pressure has been running a little low (30 lbs max when hot and around 40 lbs when first started from cold). So it looks like the bearings need replace.
I would like to "refresh" the V4 if possible, In other words, do just what it needs without replacing every little thing or upgrading the horsepower or doing anything that really won't buy me any longevity. I don't even mind adding lead additive, so keeping the original valves unless that is something that isn't very costly to upgrade, is fine with me.
What's the minimum I can do to fix the low oil pressure problem, and yet have an engine that will serve me several more years? Is what I am asking a pipe dream? Thanks for the help!
