Found the problem!!!! Posted by BAAB [Email] (#1214) [Profile/Gallery] (more from BAAB) on Sat, 20 Mar 2010 14:19:13 In Reply to: did the splines on the hub engage properly? n/m, jimmy, Sat, 20 Mar 2010 13:15:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This was the first time for me doing a 96 front wheel bearing, and i didn't have the choice tools for the job. Plus, because of my Fibromyalgia, I can't work very long before I fatigue pretty badly and have to stop. As a result I have to do the job over days/weeks instead of a few hours. O well, at least I can do what I can do, right? :-)
The problem was that I didn't quite press the drive shaft ALL the way through. After the short, slow test drive, and noticing some noise, I lifted the car back up and found that the hub nut was just a little loose. I snugged it up just a tiny bit and that fixed the problem. Now it feels, drives, and sounds nice and tight. So what I thought was tight before driving the car, had worked just a little loose during the drive.
That test drive is very important :-)
