The sealer is quite thick and would clog small holes. In one case, that's exactly what you want it to do. But in the other, you want to keep small design holes clear.

ps- it would probably scare most of us to see what's lurking in our tanks! And the ethanol gas tends to loosen that crud- I hear of more and more gas related problems due to the alcohol loosening years of accumulated crud.
