Ah, sounds very possible... my idle is definitely too high, but I can't get the adjustment to slow down. I'll work on that some more today. It used to be the car wouldn't run without a high idle, but I discovered that was because there wasn't enough oil in the dashpot and the distributor bushings were toast which caused a bad spark.... so now I'm just trying to slow down the high idle, and I will attempt it once again. Thank you very much for the insight and ideas. I already clean and gap my plugs about once a month or two... they haven't shown any signs of abnormal heat or mixture, so thanks!
