some things to check out along with all the regular stuff to check out.
Transmissions are a weak point and $$ if you can find one, check pinion noise when you lift off the gas, make sure the freewheeling (ever driven an old studebaker)is working well,
The V4 is very abuser friendly. that unbalanced hunk of pig iron will keep chugging along; out of tune, with the wrong timing, with cam bearings hammered away, wrong mixture and a chewed up timing gear. ford used it for tractors in the US so napa stocks parts in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. check freeplay in timing gears (clunking sound). It will most likely be leaking (marking territory) from the front cover, rocker arm covers, pan, transmission, intake manifold, rear main and transmission seals. this probably won't stop if from running another 160k miles if you keep filling it up.
body; The body was well undrecoated from the factory so check for rust from the inside out, and poke the undercoating to make sure there is no rot hiding under the nice black rubber. windshield leaks cause floorboards to rust out so pull up the carpets and the masonite underlayer and check where the floor meets the firewall. water collects or condenses under the fuel tank so crawl underneath and check for rust under fuel tank (between the two rear seats. pull out the spare and check there and in the foot well for the rear seat. check the front shock supports too. check the door hinge area for stress cracks and check for door sags. check around the door locks for cracks make sure the locks all work tail gate locks are prone to rust solid.
The chassis is pretty tough but the rear shocks are lever type and are likely worn out or out or hyd oil, there are a few places that can rebuild them for $100 each.
Oh if it has a factory sunroof (did they made them or I'm I in fantasy land?) put on the rose colored glasses and just buy it.
glad you are going for the 95. Had had bugs, squarebacks, 99s' they are ok, but a 95 is really something special, drive it and you will see.
keep us up dated
welcome to the family
