saber...where abouts in Australia are you?
There are a couple of us Aussies around, 4 regulars at least.
As for the car, look for $500 I don't think you can expect much, but $500 is peanuts for a car anyway. But be warned fixing a saab, especially engine/gearbox wise can quickly add up to over $5000. It can be done cheaper yourself using secondhand/non-reconditioned parts.
Also the head is new huh?...i would carefully check this out as new heads are virtually non existant in Australia (I have worked out that it would cost around $1200 to import a new head from overseas!)it is probably a recondtioned/repaired that may or may not be badly corroded inside.
The roofliner is also not cheap to do professionally, but can be done at home.
Speedo cables are often broken or have been broken at some stage in cars that age so don't trust the milage. Although saab engines are noted (in Australia anyway) for their long life (300, 000km + in well cared for examples)
In my opinion if the car runs well buy it, but beware if you buy thinking that it only needs a few things fixing. Look for a 99 in better nick.
Hope this helps

ps. I am chasing a two door sedan. Must have straight body, don't care about engine/interior. If you know of any for sale I would be very interested.
