Identical Cars Not Identical in Snow???

Ok, here's something that's been bugging me for a while. I had (well, still do, for parts) a blue 1980 99GLi, with all-season tires. It was fantastic in snow. Then, I got a yellow 1980 99GLi (identical car, except for the color), which is my daily driver. I took the wheels from the blue car and put them on the yellow. The yellow car is on so-so in the snow. What's going on?
The biggest problem (with the yellow car) is wheel spin when starting out in wet weather (incl. rain, if I go too hard), and sometimes wheels locking up when stopping. The blue car never did this.
