Melanie,
Just a thought, but I have a 1967 and a 1972(3)? Mod 96. The 1967 ran when I bought it, but I let it sit for 5 years before I was able to afford the restoration. Anyway, I found a good used V-4, cleaned it up a little, and dropped it in. The V-4 that was in I have on an engine stand awaiting a rebuild. The moral of the story is if you let a project car sit too long, you may lose interest, and then one day you will kick yourself for letting your Saab go. You will make more contacts driving your 96 around, and you will be suprised at the number of people that will talk Saabs with you, and even give up parts stashes(Free) that they remebered they had because they saw you driving your 96. BTW, there is a V-4 1500 on E-bay right now, I think the bid is up to $6.00. (Yeah, but the shipping will cost a few bucks. Good Luck.
