And the trouble shooting kings are...

Remember the V4 that sputtered at higher rpm and a few thought it might be my new Weber 32/36 DGV carb jetting? Well, read on.
Called Jack Ashcraft and he says, "It's timing, running lean or the valves." Called Chip Lamb and he says, "Get the basic stuff right, timing, plugs, wires, etc., and do a compression check, it could be valves."
So I pulled the plugs to replace them and they all looked pretty good except the right rear seemed awfully clean. I had the heads done 7 months ago so I thought no way but just for grins I checked the compression anyway. Right rear cylinder ZERO. Left rear 55lbs. I didn't even check the front 2 cylinders. I figure my compression gauge doesn't work right.
Now get this. Although it's kinda hard to start and sputters above 4000 rpm, the car runs pretty good(!) so I drive it over to my new mechanic and ask him to check it over. Next day he calls and says...
******** WAIT FOR IT! **********
"Your valves are shot. No compression on the right rear and the rest are weak, too."
Looks like the bozo who did the heads (now out of business) didn't do the valves, the miserable bastard.
So the winners of my personal trouble shooting contest are Jack Ashcraft and Chip Lamb. And many thanks to all the others who offered advice - Spiv, KsKid, etc. (And a special thanks to Chip Lamb for having all the parts I needed in stock.)
Don't worry, I'll be having another contest and you can all try to win when I do.
Let's just hope it's not too soon. I'd like to drive a while this time.
