Starting up a fresh engine (V4) Posted by paul [Email] (#792) [Profile/Gallery] (more from paul) on Wed, 22 May 2002 09:21:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am closing in on completion of a rebuild on my V4 and am curious about filling it with coolant (had trouble with this on a VW engine once). Can I just fill the radiator, start it up, and keep adding coolant as the engine, heater, etc fill up? Is there any kind of priming I need to do? I am concerned about creating an air lock somewhere. I have filled the oil pump with oil, not sure if that was really necessary. thoughts? Should I put assembly lube on the pushrods/lifters or is a bit of oil adequate? Any other first time start up suggestions?
Thanks
