'80 99GLi to turbo conversion Posted by JohnT [Email] (#1654) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JohnT) on Wed, 21 Aug 2002 10:29:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am getting ready to put a B turbo engine from an '81 900T into my '80 99GLi. Can someone tell me if I can use the existing electronic control module, or does the turbo require a different one?
In addition, I was going to use a 4-spd tranny from a '79 900EMS. I would appreciate any input on how well it will work with the turbo motor as far as gearing. Were the turbo trannies geared differently from the non-turbos?
Any additional advice would be helpful. I know I need to change the front trans. motor mount, move the battery, add oil cooler...
I'm also planning to lighten the flywheel, add MSS exhaust and K&N air filter. Later maybe a hotter cam, intercooler, water injection, maybe APC.
TIA
