Here is a Version 1 update. Dan in Utah suggested calling Rick Woolfe, who has many many old Saabs in Oregon at 541-726-0664, posted with permission. He has seen a conversion from a Datsun/Nissan master cylinder, late 70s/early 80s. I went to the junkyard and found this to be correct, M/Cyls on 310/510 and 280Z that I found there are fairly similar and appeared likely candidates for adaptation. The key tipoff for a suitable cylinder is that the mounting flange has vertical holes for the studs from the booster, instead of horizontal like 99% of all master cylinders. My goal is to have a unit for which I can obtain a new one off the shelf and bolt it on. I pulled a clean-looking cylinder from a 79 280Z. This has a 15/16" bore; the externally identical unit on the 310 has a 13/16" bore, same as my 95. I spent a lot of today making the swap which involves substantial alteration to the M/C nose and mounting holes and making new brake lines because the fittings are different. It can be done and on initial test drive works great. It takes a little more pedal pressure and pedal travel is reduced, as I expected from the larger M/C bore.

This is not a simple bolt-on swap, but will almost be next time. Please post if you want Version 2, complete details of the conversion with part numbers etc, and I will be glad to oblige. And if you have found another way to do this, let me know. Kansas.
