The 4-speed is quite similar to the 5-speed that would have come with the 900T and so I believe would share the same weaknesses. The weakness in the 5-speed was that the pinion gear was directly on the same shaft as all the cluster gears (1,2,3&4) and if the pinion bearing ever gave out, it would introduce a wobble in the shaft and take out all the gears along the line. The pinion bearing is under the greatest load when starting from a complete stop, so burning rubber will kill your gearbox.
That being said, I don't think the 4 speed is any weaker or stronger than the 5-speed so if your 4-speed is solid, your biggest worry would be the revs you'll have to do to get to highway speeds (and the wear on the engine that entails).
