Well, I am not certain, but isnt the '70 4spd a gear drive, and not the stronger chain drive of the later 4spd? Also, I believe the final drive ratio is lower. As to handling that kind of power, I cant say. I have heard that if you have it rebuilt and have all the gears shot-peened it is one of the strongest Saab boxes. Could be hearsay.
