Andy, there is no adjustment of that column.you could take up the slack by adding washers behind the actuator, but you would be re-engineering it. That small travelis part of the design of the joint. The free play I'm talking about only happens once in a while, as you're changing the seat position.If you pull the wheel while not doing a seat change, it may move as well.It is a minor thing that shouldn't cause any alarm.If that joint did fail, the wheel would come right out with the upper shaft, and I've never heard of that happening. Unless you can get a N.O.S. steering column, and stricktly enforce a "no wheel pull" policy at seat changes, you have to live with it. Or look for a One owner/driver car. If you have a parts book it is clearly shown, less the detail of the non-serviceable joint.
