When I removed the pump from my '69 95 the plunger rod stayed in its bore until I distrurbed it. I cleaned away the old gasket, applied very thin amount of RTV silicone, installed new paper gasket, applied RTV to paper and reinstalled pump tightening bolts to 15 foot pounds of torgue. With my car, the gas tank was so full of rust, gum, and crud that the motor would stall every 150 miles, afterwhich I would clean the fuel pump screen filter (the top chamber of the original pumps) and put on a new inline filter. That got old so I removed the tank, took it to a radiator shop for "boiling" then applied POR tank seal-- no more stalling! Could you tell me the part number of the pump you have bought as I would like to have a spare pump just in case. Ed
