Al, I'll answer them all...
Did you but it new? It had a few thousand miles on it from use by the dealership owner's wife. The leather still smells new, and there are no flaws in the paint or finish. No signs of any abuse whatsoever. Clean Carfax and Experian reports too.
Anything that you would change? I would not change the vehicle from a mechanical standpoint. It feels and drives solid. No squeaks or rattles - just a solid vehicle. It would be nice to see fewer GM parts, but it feels like a SAAB on the road, especially when I had to do an avoidance maneuver on the Ohio Turnpike a few weeks ago (construction barrel in my lane). However, my 2009 93 SportCombi still feels more like a traditional SAAB to me. Near the end, SAAB was looking for a new direction - perhaps the new 95 was an example of that new direction, or maybe it was an example of what the new company wanted to avoid. Either way, this is a great vehicle, and could have gone a long way to save the company had other factors not caused its demise. It was definitely targeted at the U.S. market. One thing I might have changed had SAAB survived - the list price. The sticker was, IMHO, too high. I paid below what I would consider fair market value if SAAB were still with us.
Does it go fast enough for you? I didn't buy it believing it was the fastest car in its class. I don't stand on the accelerator very often, but I do cruise at 70-80 mph, and that's what I bought it for , and that's where it excels for me. It's stable and quiet at high speed, and that's what SAABs are to me - high speed cruisers. I'm personally pleased with the 0-60 times nonetheless, even if they're not tops in their class.
Have you made any plans for stuff that goes wrong? I did do a lot of soul searching before I bought, mostly about parts and maintenance. At the time I bought it, the first parts shipment after release of SAAB Parts from the bankruptcy was on its way from Sweden. I've owned 3 SAABs now, and the first two have been more reliable than my wife's Mazda5, which cost us more for gas, maintenance, and insurance. I sold the Mazda5 and used the proceeds to pay off the 2009 93 SC, so if things go south in the future with parts and maintenance of SAABs, I can sell the '09 93 and buy something with a warranty. That's my plan. But in the meantime, I believe I bought a solid vehicle and should have few if any problems for the next ?? years, just like my '05 and '09 93s. My track record with the newer SAABs has been excellent. I should say that I'm meticulous (OK, anal) about routine maintenance - I never go more than 5,000 miles between oil changes. I think it's paid off with the first 2 SAABs. My '05 93 SS looked new when I traded it in on the '09 93 SC. The dealer's sales manager kept it for himself rather than sell it. The 2 other sales reps wanted to buy it too.
Did I address everything? Bottom line: I'm confident I'll have a great vehicle for at least the time I'm paying the vehicle loan. :-)
