Stick with the rating you have. If you were possibly going from 120a to 140a that would be a reasonable alternative however the 120a alternator will be overworked as your vehicle must have options which specify a higher electrical load. For instance, I install the later OG9-5 140a alternator unit on all 4 cylinder NG900, OG9-3 and OG9-5 models. It is completely interchangeable and fits without any problems. These models come with either a 90a, 120a or 130a unit, the 140a gives a larger window of amperage demand vs amp supply allowing the alternator have less load. The 140a units also tend to be far more reliable.
Then you have the BMW, Mercedes and Porsche models of late which have active programmed charging systems. The battery and alternator are synced together. Install a higher or lower amperage battery and the alternator will not charge the battery at all.
Check and see if your able to cross over to a Buick unit with a 140a rating. What failed on your current unit? If just bearings, perhaps having your mechanic install new bearings would be a good alternative.
