Hi I've got a new 1995 900se v6 with 144k miles. It is actually in very good shape considdering what I've read about this model here.
I'm getting a bit of a fuel smell in the cabin of the car when the ventilation is on. When looking over the engine the only place I can discern a smell is from what I think is the fuel pressure regulator. It is the small cylindrical silver thing that is connected to the fuel rail that feeds the six injectors. Should I take this off and clean the connections or just replace it?
Next question, when I open the oil cap and look inside it appears that the camshaft is wobbling. Is this normal due to offsets in the camshaft or is it supposed to be straight and spinning smoothly? It is not making any bad noise so I'm guessing that it is normal but it sure looks funny.
Last question, the car corners quite well although any bumps are felt (large or small) and skip the cd player. Out of the shock/strut assembly what typically is needed to get things back to a smooth ride?
A bit of background: I got the car for $3300 due to the mileage. According to lookup of the VIN the timing belt was serviced around 30,60,90. The water pump was going and making a racket so I had that replaced along with the serpentine belt which was old/cracked. With the cover off at the shop I got a good look at the timing belt and it looks seriously new so I am guessing that it was replaced one more time recently that doesn't show up in the service history. The valve covers are leaking a bit as expected but it doesn't seem like enough yet to bother with resealing them. The engine pulls strong and everything else is in great shape.
Thanks,
Alex.
