Check out the shrader valve link re: fuel smell. Right next to the FPR is a valve that looks like a tire air valve. unscrew the cap, smell and look for gas (flammable!) mine was loose and the rubber gasket on the valve had worn off and I could see gas dribbling out. R/R costs about 4$ total,there is a tool for unscrewing these types of valves. There are different size valves, so be sure it fits or you will strip the threads. If that's not it, you can R/R the FPR pretty easily, but they are not known to fail on the V6. I would suspect the shrader valve.
Suspension: upper strut mounts are the main failure on V6, do you hear knocking when cornering or making turns on the highway? Search the bb for strut mounts
