CEL/Emission Test Failure '94 900 SE

Just bought a '94 900 SE Turbo. It came with "Check Engine" light (CEL) on. Read some of the postings and decided to check O2 sensor. Removed
it and wiped black deposit off it. CEL didn't come on. Figured something
good had happened.
In preparing to take car in for GA emissions test, put some injector cleaner in with the gas. Inspector told me the cleaner wouldn't mess up test. Passed first part of test (running at 25 mph). Failed second part
(running at 50 mph)on one factor -- CO reading. CO went from .01 in
first part of test to 1.70 in second part. Limit is .79. HC reading
was 121 against a limit of 141.
Filled gas tank to"dilute" remaining injector stuff in case it was a contributor. Now, CEL is off when I start car and doesn't come on until
I have been driving for about 10 minutes.
Any ideas on what might be causing the CEL to come on.
Coaching always appreciated! Frank
