Plugs were changed about 2,000 km ago, they look okay. I'm gapping them at 0.035".
I made the change to synthetic two oil changes ago, and I still change every 5,000 km (3,000 miles). So far, no leaks.
Yes, the low pressure warning is functional, I have noted too many engine failures on the board attributed to this, and always pay special attention to it.
You may be right about the valves sticking. I remember when they changed the HG the head had to go back in to clean out the valves. I'll look out for an engine oil additive for now. The SAAB dealership here use AC Delco and Shell synthetics. Mobil 1 is available only at specialist places, but may have to be considered in the future.
My guess is the idle issue was when the gas still had a bit of pressure, but was at the point where the cutoff would start working. I was upcountry, and felt it getting warm, so I got it recharged and drove 300 km back home. When almost back, the A/c didn't feel quita as cold, and the car hesitated a bit in stop-go traffic. When I parked it, I heard this hissing coming from around the area of the schraeder valve. I let it cool down, then checked the coolant levels in case. Then I brought it to the dealer, who thankfully works a full day Sunday, and got the A/C fixed.
Really appreciate the help. Thank you.
