Melissa, I have a 97 900 SE with the 16" factory alloys, I popped one last year in Detroit and bent a rim on a lovely pot hole. I recently bought new 16" rims from Tire Rack ($129 each) I kept my winters on the stock rims and put my summer tires on the new rims. However, after 3 different balancing visits, I still have a pretty good vibration between 50-60 mph. Thank god I drive like hell, it's smoother at the higher speeds. My regular tire guy is telling me that you can not get these rims to balance correctly because you have to use the stick on weights. (no lip on rim for traditional weights.)
I'm asking myself if the more expensive rims, $200 range, would have alleviated the issue.
Tire Rack gets the kudo's, the rims were here in less than 2 days at my doorstep, and they will deliver to the local installer. Try transporting an extra set of rims and tires to the shop! LOL In a convertible!
