I have steel wheels on one car, and alloys on the other.
In the many years that I've owned both cars, I had not have to replace (or even touch) the steel rims. The alloys, on the other hand, are a lot of trouble (and huge drain financially): on a good year, I have to replace one wheel. I had some years when I had to relace 3! This is not to mention the troubles that arise when you start getting slow leaks which everybody refuses to see but you, vibrations, sudden deflations in the parking lot, and other such nuisances ...
