As I recall, castrol offers some viscosities in both the white GTX bottle, and the the green high-mileage bottle. Same oil in different bottles? That's kind of what I always figured.
I tried some high-mileage in my old car, at around 135k - a '91 Plymouth Laser 1.8L, and noticed no real difference. It didn't use oil at all for about 1700 mi, then instantly used a quart. I assumed that was about the time the oil started to break down - when I added a quart, it would get me by again 'till the 3k oil change.
