The hose that comes out toward the front (of the car) from the tb then under the manifold to the other side of the engine is, I think, part of the crankcase ventilation system. I replaced mine w/o removing all the stuff, you do have to remove the side engine cover, but I was able to just fish the new hose through. cut it a little shorter, that should get the kink out. likewise there is a smaller, about 3" long hose from the rear (toward the center of the car) of the intake manifold straight down into the same place as the other hose, you can r/r that one too at the same time if you did not already.
I've heard of the rubber mallet working on alternators and starters. fuel pump is a new one. How could you access it to hit it but not remove it?
