Thanks for the immediate response (as always) Dean!
Well, I picked up the rotary tool over the weekend from PepBoys ($19 w/tax) - Nikota. I should have spent the extra $10 and gotten the one with the flex attachment. Probably should have spent the $50 and bought a true Dremel. Oh well, I opened it before asking (always a no-no).
The drum sanders I had (bought many moons ago to do the TBTC) would not stay in the cordless drills I have, and the cord had been severed on the corded drill with chuck. I thought the rotary tool would be right, and trying it out last night, it worked for me!
Did not take as long, or half as much effort as I thought it would. I was able to get as far in as the bend (no flex attachment!); a halfway decent job I think. Did not smooth the other side, as I was concerned about doing the "intake side" correct. There was a considerable crease/indent on either side from the mold used to "connect" the two halves I assume? I got most of it; only a miniscule (sp?) crease left. Of course, the main concern is the "lip" at the intake side, which I took care of.
It took the four small cartridges that came with the rotary tool kit. I will most likely go back in to smooth the rest out, but I will have to buy more (and appropriate grit) cartridges and the flex attachment if I am to get in deep enough. All in all, a success...
A drive afterwards seemed to provide smoother response, although a rusted exhaust and rotting flexpipe are holding me back. I was able to achieve considerable boost afterwards, which has been mentioned by previous posters. I am running an MBC+A, that is not perfectly tuned in yet, but I may need to turn it down a notch after this and the exhaust (see other post).
Thanks as always to this board for another successful DIY performance mod!! Also, thank you if you read this far!
