1994 900 SE -139K. This is the fourth clutch cable to fail, it looks like the self adjuster fell apart (many pieces), I got 40k out of this one before failing without warning, lucky me, in my driveway this time.
I have the Haynes manual and tried this once before, had a lot of the stuff (battery, maxifuse box, ICE, other parts below the steering wheel) out of the way to replace it a couple of years ago, but could not get the air duct off to access the inside connection to the clutch pedal, been through the archives and could not find any good detailed info on replacement.
Now I have the benefit of the car in my own garage and would like to give it another shot. I keep a spare in the trunk and I need to learn how to install in an emergency if I have to. The last time I had one fail I was stuck on a goat path of a road in the North Carolina mountains and eventually got a 50 mile tow.
This is the original clutch, but I keep the arm lubed the best I can. Pedal pressure is not unusually stiff. These things just do not last very long.
