I think that with the 3" duct mod as a cold air intake, you will be better off with that than a setup that takes in the very hot air from under the hood. In the winter the impact would not be too great, but in the summer there could be a large performance penalty. The end treatment of the 3" duct can also have a performance impact. The speaker port-tube end for the duct mod is a very good option... but again... small effects.
With a non-turbo engine, there is nothing that you can do for vast improvements. A low restriction exhaust can help, but you cannot use a Sports exhaust on a non-turbo... very very loud.
You have a high compression engine 10.5:1. So you need high octane fuel to allow the ECU to take advantage of timing that will allow for better performance. The right plugs in good condition and gap, plus clean injectors will help as well. Techron Concentrate will clean the injectors and reduce combustion chamber deposits that create acquired octane demand. Mobil 1 5W40 will help liberate some power and will otherwise provide better wear protection.
Avoid high alchohol fuels, those labelled at 10% ethanol. These have less energy of combustion and you will get less MPGs and your real cost of that fuel is higher than the price shown at the pump because you will use more.
Check to see if the AMM/MAF screens are fouled, which adds flow restriction. Do not remove these screens as they provide a very important flow smoothing and vortex disipation function. A MAF can be cleaned with a 'plastics safe' electronic spray cleaner. An old tooth brush might be need to free up deposits. You can harm a MAF if you are not careful.
There is nothing 'ram; about that linked product. But it does remove the plenum box. Thats a ying/yang thing. I would be interested in seeing that intake tube (no plenum box) used with the stock airbox and duct mod. But again, minor incremental improvements.
Try the premium fuel if not already in use, and the plugs and techron as basic maintenance items that can help.
