I have a 1995 900S Convertible. There are a few issues that I cannot figure out and dealers/other SAAB repair shops seem to not be able to figure out either.
1.Front Brake Squeel-This is the most annoying issue I have. I had a shop check the pads and rotors and they say they are fine and it is just because they are harder pads. I don't think this could be the only reason. Some days the brakes squeel horribly to a point where it is almost unbearable and then the next day it will only be a light squeek. I have tried 'bedding in' the pads as the shop suggested and sometimes they squeek even when I brake hard. I don't think it is simply because I have hard pads because I am the only one on the road that squeels so loudly and certainly I am not the only one with harder pads.
2.'Check Gearbox' on Start- Initially this happened to me on a daily bases last winter I would start the car in the morning and the check gearbox light would come on. When I drove the car seemed like it was stuck in a high gear(there was absolutely no acceleration) once the engine warmed I could stop and restart and it would be ok again but never until restart. I just dealt with it during the winter it was only a moderate frustration but it has happened a few times this summer when the temperature got below 70 or so at night and I would really like to look into fixing it.
3.High Idle- MY car idles at around 1100-1200RPM and sometimes is not constant for a good 20 seconds. I have tried searching through this board to figure this out but it seems like there are so many possibilities I don't know where to start. If someone could give ideas as how I could narrow it down and/or links to pages with procedures it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any tips please feel free to help with just one of the issues, just wanted to post them all at once.
