First of all, let me welcome you to the exclusive club of V6'ers who have or had leaking VC gaskets, which includes just about every V6 on the road.

Click on "more from michael p" above and search for my detailed posts on the procedure, I think I either posted, or copied someone else's post, maybe 3 years ago, it'll take some paging through to find it.

Front VC gaskets should take about an hour, rear maybe 2-3 hours b/c you have to remove the intake manifold, be sure to get the manifold gasket and replace that too. Also, you should replace the rear spark plugs, or at least re-gap your current ones, while you have the intake apart (sparks are cheap, I'd just replace them if I were you). Also consider cleaning out the IAC that's located underneath the intake manifold, takes about 10 minutes, if you can find a new rubber gasket for that, all the better, cause it may be getting rotten.

The procedure is easy if you can turn a wrench, squeeze a tube, and scrape things, it's just time consuming. No snake hands required.

Tools include a ratchet w/ outside torx (although hex works, too); a narrow scraper. Long fingernails also help in removing old sealant. Also be sure to have a good torque wrench, it doesn't take much to strip the VC bolt holes, so accuracy is the rule.
