There are kinds that you leave in the oil to drive on. 10 - 12 ounce cans, shake can, feels watery. Follow directions. Only a few bucks. Never use anything thick!

AutoRX, expensive but highly regarded. See if the other alternatives work first.

Several 'flushes' about one quart, add to oil, idle and follow directions. Can't put load on engine until new oil in. So can't drive onto ramps after adding. B12 is very agressive, but a smaller container, but more active ingredients. When you drain the oil, it will rush out much faster than normal, so take care with that. Marvel Mystery oil has low amounts of active ingredients.

You can try the drive on, then flush with next change. I would switch to Mobil 1 0W40, if the oil seems to be getting under control. M1 is a bit expensive to be burning off. You might try Shell Rotella Synthetic (5W40), 1 gallon BLUE jug at Walmart for $12.88 as stepping stone. These oils will help free up sticking rings.

With a drive on additive, do not extend your oil changes as the filter may be getting a load of crap.

We see quite a few engines get gummed up with dyno oil, so sticking rings would not be an unexpected possibiltiy. I have seen the solvent type oil addatives fix oil consumption and smoking. So might work for you.

Please post results and observations. A solvent type additive might increase consumption. Deposits removed and then the rings need to reseat. Can you avoid highway driving for a while. You losses might be greater then.
