I took the '96 in to our new Saab dealer to have the a/c looked at - there was an obvious leak (oily joint) at a connection on the low pressure hose. The service dept. just called and while they didn't say anything about a hose leak, they did say that the dye test showed that the evap core was leaking. They claim that it's about an hour's labor to replace the evap core. Does this sound right? Is the core accessable enough to spot a leak? I'm a little skeptical here since they apparantly didn't catch the hose leak, although perhaps there is another explanation for an oily a/c hose surrounded by non-oily engine bay. They also didn't mention anything about replacing the dryer, but my understanding was that it's necessary, or at least good practice, to replace the dryer anytime the system is opened.
