I had AC problems when I first bought the car. One place indicated both lines were leaking, but indy/seller didn't do much. Eventually I had the AC compressor replaced by them twice (once with a "pull" and second time with a new unit). Months later I realized it still was "leaking" and not getting as cold, but received a different diagnosis. This time it was the Evaporator core. It was so "long" ago that they did not offer to replace, but would put diagnosis payment towards labour.

They indicated part was $600-800, and yes, prone to failure. eEuro has Genuine Saab one for $640 so okay. However, they indicated it is a bear to get to since it involves taking most of the dash apart which is why it would cost me between $800-1K total. I can not say yes or no, as I am neither a dealer, indy, nor mechanic, and am at work with no WIS in front of me. Perhaps the dealer can do it in an hour. Not sure.

Unfortunately, no one here (that I have seen), myself included, has tackled AC work. It, like ABS, are sort of Voodoo to do on one's own. If their price is reasonable to you, your willing to pay that amount for running AC, and they will guarantee this will solve your AC woes (including NO disclaimer about, well, evaporator now okay, but you need to replace both lines for $350) then I say go for it.

Perhaps others will chime in. Either way, good luck! I refill every so often with a can of stuff, and it keeps me going for a good amount of time. $20 every year for a recharge kit, or $1K plus to maybe solve it for "good," I choose the recharge.
