I have suffered defeat by stripping the lower alt mounting bolt on my 96 900SE. I guess sometimes you win, sometimes you loose.
The bolt is in a metal sleeve and threads into aluminum-guess these tough Ohio winters don't help that either.
Just a side note-NG900's don't like to be driven in mud-the tie rod end boot isn't tight around it and the alt sits lower then that said boot-thus allowing the alt to become encrusted with water and mud.
Could it be poss. the 90 day warrenty alt. that I spend over five hundred in parts and labor at my local dealer is taking a shit after one year? I have a bosch rebuilt in the trunk ($199 with one year warrenty)and I am taking the car in on Monday to a local friend who owns a small shop and let him duke it out with the worst alt. placement I have ever had to deal with and don't forget I gave up!!! Oh, I guess I shouldn't say that too loud, my c900 may be listening. Now about getting that long bolt out that hits the firewall?

OK-thanks for listening. SAABS can be quite amusing at times.
