That is exactly why many states like Maine have passed laws that mandate if you elect to run studded tires on a front wheel drive, all four wheels must be studded. I have four Saabs on the road this Winter and all are running Nokian H2 studded. Nokians are tough to beat for traction, handling and mileage. Much better than Gislaveds which I used to run exclusively. I'm running 185/65x15s on 900NG and 9000s and they perform better than 205/55x16s which I run on the 9-5 because they tend to cut into the snow better. The larger tires float more and can hydroplane on slush quicker.
